‘Bark-in’ at City Hall — Evanston Government news

Supporters of Evanston’s Dog Beach gather in front of City Hall before Monday’s City Council meeting. The beach is scheduled to close indefinitely on Dec. 1 because it is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. A ramp to make it accessible could cost as much as $863,000. “I think it should be accessible to everyone, but I think that’s not a reason to close it just because we can’t figure it out,” said Jenny Johnson (right) with her dog Mystic. Holding the sign is Mike Meyers, who describes himself as the unofficial mayor of the beach. “The closing of the beach is going to upset a lot of people and their dogs,” he said.
