Evanston man sentenced in sex abuse case — Evanston Community news

A 22-year-old Evanston man was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to a class 2 felony charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Oscar Leon-Patino, 22, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Lorraine Murphy. He had worked as a laundry aide at an Evanston assisted living facility Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul in a statement said Lion-Patino had “egregiously violated” the victim, a physically and intellectually disabled patient “for whom he was supposed to be caring.” Raoul said he was pleased with the prison sentence and “will continue to hold individuals accountable who prey on and abuse the most vulnerable among us.” The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit prosecuted this case following a referral from the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Evanston Police Department assisted the MFCU with the investigation. Three-quarters of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit’s $16 million budget is provided by the federal government. Related
