Lawrick finished the 50th anniversary New York City Marathon on Nov. 1, in 4:43:17 (4 hours, 43 minutes and 17 seconds), carried along by the crowds. She ran for Fred’s Team, which raises money for Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), where her son, Gus, was successfully treated for retinoblastoma when he was 4. “It was an absolutely unforgettable day!” Lawrick wrote in an email Monday. “Coming off the silent Queensboro Bridge to the roar of the crowd on Fifth Avenue was incredible.” Last week, the Evanston RoundTable featured Lawrick in an article about her family’s story. Lawrick, her running partner, Laura Lang, and their friend, Sherie Buell, sidelined with a stress fracture, joined Fred’s Team together and had raised $35,508 for MSK as of Sunday evening. Lawrick raised the lion’s share, more than $22,000
