Opus 327 presents Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem on Sunday, Nov. 1 — Evanston Arts news

Opus 327 will present Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 939 Hinman Ave. The choir of St. Luke’s and the Bella Voce Sinfonia will perform under the direction of conductor Andrew Lewis, with organist Michael Rees at the century-old Opus 327 organ and soloists Daniel Hautzinger and Freyja Ragnarsson. Fauré’s Requiem is one of the most loved pieces of choral music ever written. It is gentle rather than grand, and it ends not with judgment but with a quiet vision of paradise. The concert is offered in remembrance of all who have died. Solo organ works round out the program, all in the warm and acoustically rich setting of St. Luke’s. Tickets are $30 for general admission, $25 for seniors and free for students and youth. Purchase them online.
